In Your War, Our Lives, Mina Sharif, award-nominated author and cultural advocate, draws from years lived in Afghanistan and a lifetime shaped by diaspora. Each short story in this collection was written to challenge assumptions, invite deeper seeing, and offer a unique insight into Afghanistan's experience. This book is also a visual journey, brought to life by vivid original ArtLords illustrations that provide powerful social commentary. Written for Afghan readers to feel seen, this book extends outward as a quiet invitation to others : to stop searching for a single truth about Afghanistan, and start listening for many.
This book was created to rethink narratives, foster dialogue, and bridge cultural divides.
Whether you’re an educator, book club leader, librarian, or advocate for Afghan communities and general diverse voices, you can help bring these essential narratives into learning spaces.
